Buyers are flocking to big blocks of land and lifestyle locations, new data reveals, with strong competition for outer suburban areas as well as high-end homes.
The most in-demand auction suburb is Baulkham Hills, where there was an average of 25.4 bidders registered per auction over the first five months of 2021, new Ray White data shows.
On the other side of the city, Waverley and Coogee come in at equal second and third with an average of 25 registered bidders per auction in the same period.
Ray White chief economist Nerida Conisbee said the pandemic had seen a rise in popularity for a range of suburbs.
“What seems to be happening is a mix of outer suburban areas that have taken off during COVID,” Ms Conisbee said. “Big blocks, spacious areas but still reasonably connected to the city.
“But then you have places like Waverley and Coogee that are expensive. It’s reflecting that high-end residential has done incredibly well during the pandemic.”
